
An American Eagle airliner started smoking shortly before landing in Kansas City.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — An American Airlines regional plane carrying members of Congress from Kansas made an emergency landing at Kansas City International Airport on Friday.
American Eagle Flight 5318, operated by PSA Airlines, was en route from Washington, D.C. to Kansas City when smoke began to emit from the aircraft.
U.S. Rep. Tracey Mann (R-Kansas) Posted a video Everyone on board was evacuated before being evacuated from the tarmac.
“We had smoke on the plane, so we landed and now we’re sitting on the tarmac and everyone evacuated the plane and it looked like everything was going fine,” Mann said in the video. “Really grateful to our first responders, everyone from the fire, they do an incredible job every day.”
Mann also shared photos of the plane being evacuated, adding: “Glad everyone is safe.”
“They’re prepared for something like this,” Mann said. “That’s why it’s so important that we support all first responders. A big thank you to them for coming out right away and making sure there were no issues.”
The flight was carrying 76 passengers and no one was injured. The FAA will investigate the incident, CNN reported.
