“You almost killed your child, you know what I mean?” the soldier can be heard saying in the dashcam video.
JOINER, Ark. — Shocking video shows a chase involving Arkansas State Troopers ending in a crash as a child crawled out of the wrecked car and ran toward the officers.
Records of a car chase in rural Joyner, Arkansas, show a Dodge Charger refused to pull over for the officer, who ultimately used a PIT maneuver. The Charger then veered off the road and rolled over an embankment.
After a few minutes, the back door of the inverted charger opens. The officer yelled at the driver to come out with her hands up. She replied: “My baby came out first!”
A toddler then fled the car and ran toward police.
“Come here and stay here. You’re okay, come on, honey,” the officer told the child. After the child was safe, he yelled at the driver again. “Are you alone? Why did you run away with the baby in the car?”
The officer ordered her out of the car and crawled over to him. Shortly after, the child’s mother emerged from the car and struggled toward the police.
“This is the stupidest thing I’ve ever seen,” the soldier said. “You could kill your own child.”
He said she was handcuffed and he clocked her going 80 mph when the speed limit was only 55 mph. The driver said she tried to run away because she didn’t have a driver’s license.
“Is that why you ran away from me? You ran away from me because you didn’t have a driver’s license? You almost killed your child, you know what I mean?” the soldier said.
The child did not appear to be injured and was being supervised by another adult at the scene, according to reports. The driver reportedly faces a slew of charges, including reckless driving and endangering the welfare of a minor.
