Pima County Assessor Suzanne Droubie claimed Nanos was upset after learning her office had complied with a federal request for information related to the case, Newsweek reported.

Guthrie disappeared from her home outside Tucson, Arizona, on January 31 and was reported missing the next day. Authorities said she was taken against her will and drops of blood were found on her front porch.

Dube told The Arizona Republic that she contacted Nanos as a courtesy after sharing the information with him. FBI. While she declined to disclose what was provided, citing the ongoing investigation, she claimed the sheriff was uncomfortable with the additional leads investigators now need to pursue.

“Presumably we are creating a lot of additional work for the Sheriff’s Department,” Dubey said, adding that Nanos seemed frustrated by the need to follow up on the new information.

She further described the exchange as more of a rebuke than an argument. “I wouldn’t classify it as yelling, but rather a scolding and expression of frustration,” she told the newspaper.

FBI tensions

The charges are the latest sign of apparent friction between local investigators and federal authorities in the high-profile disappearance. Earlier, FBI Director Kash Patel claimed that the bureau was not initially involved in the investigation.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department disputes that characterization and insists it immediately began coordinating with the FBI.

The criticisms have raised questions about the handling of the investigation, which remains unresolved more than 100 days later. Authorities have not identified the suspects and have not announced any arrests.

In February, investigators released surveillance video showing a masked man outside Guthrie’s home the night she disappeared. Since then, there have been few major public updates.

A spokesman for the Sheriff’s Department previously said investigators receive hundreds of calls a day related to the case and urged the public to submit only “actionable tips.”

Sheriff says case will be solved

Despite the controversy, Nanos insists researchers are making progress. He told People magazine this week that authorities were examining digital evidence, DNA and “tens of thousands” of videos collected from traffic and doorbell cameras.

“My team, I’ve always said, they’re going to figure this out,” Nanos said. “I believe it 100 percent.” He also told local TV station KOLD that investigators are constantly working to solve the case and are getting closer to a solution “every day.”
