Regulators said the toy’s silicone cord could get stuck in the back of a child’s throat, causing breathing difficulties.
WASHINGTON — A pull-string teething toy sold on Amazon has been recalled because parts of the toy pose a choking risk to children, federal safety regulators warned Thursday.
The recall includes approximately 102,000 Tiyol pull-string teething toys. according to consumer product safety commissionthese toys have silicone cords that are smaller and longer than federally allowed.
The safety recall said the long cord could get stuck in the back of a child’s throat, causing “difficulty breathing and creating a fatal choking hazard.”
Federal safety regulators said they are aware of 11 choking incidents related to the recall.
The teething toy is in the shape of an off-white disc with a red ball in the center and six long silicone drawstrings running through the ball. The toy also features three free-spinning rings and soft buttons on the disc.
“Model 688-59” is printed on the product packaging.
The toys were sold online through Amazon from October 2022 to January 2026. The price is about $10 to $12.
Consumers should immediately stop using the toy, keep it away from children and contact ZW Creations to request a free replacement.
Consumers will be asked to cut off and discard all silicone cord tentacles, write “Recall” on the body of the toy with a permanent marker, and submit photos of the destroyed product online: https://tiyol-recall.com.
