Washington—— Food and Drug Administration Consumers are being warned of a nationwide recall of eczema cream due to microbial contamination.

Pharmacal is recalling a batch of MG217 Multi-Symptom Treatment Cream and Skin Protection Eczema Cream sold in 6-ounce tubes because the product was found to be contaminated with Staphylococcus aureus. Using contaminated products can lead to a range of infections, some of which can be serious or life-threatening.

People with weakened immune systems or compromised skin are at increased risk for skin infections, bone and joint infections, blood infections, and life-threatening conditions such as sepsis and septic shock, the FDA said. There have been no reports of injuries or reactions related to the recall.

The eczema cream is sold wholesale at retailers and online on Amazon. It is used as a topical cream and has product code 5106, UPC 012277051067.

According to Tuesday’s recall alert, the affected batch has an expiration date of November 2026 and is batch number 1024088.

Pharmacal also notified distributors of the recall via email and arranged for the return of the recalled product.

Consumers who own recalled products can contact Pharmacal at 800-558-6614 or imho@pharmacalway.com Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Central Time. The FDA urges consumers who experience any problems with the product to contact their health care provider.
