The Federal Trade Court on Thursday once again thwarted U.S. President Donald Trump’s tariff policies, ruling that the administration’s temporary 10% global tariffs were inconsistent with federal law.
A three-judge panel at the U.S. Court of International Trade in New York ruled 2-1 that Trump’s actions exceeded the powers granted to the president by Congress. The court said the tariffs were “invalid” and “unauthorized by law.”
The move comes months after the U.S. Supreme Court struck down a broader set of tariffs the Trump administration imposed last year on imports from nearly every country.
