Badani was questioned as to whether the decision to bat first on a difficult pitch could backfire. Responding to the criticism, he explained that although the Arun Jaitley Stadium is the home ground of Delhi Capitals, the team has little control over the nature of the pitch prepared by the curators.“We don’t have any control over the pitch. It’s much easier for a side to play 20 overs and then understand what the pitch is going to be like when they bat second, and that’s pretty much what happened. I think in the first 10 overs, when we didn’t get enough, the game was lost; we were about 70 for 5, and even though it’s a tough pitch, you don’t want to be 70 for 5. It’s been an up and down curve for us. Understand what we’re going to get in Delhi – our home. It was 265 in a game but either side had little control on the field,” Hemang Badani said at the post-match press conference.
