New Delhi: When will MS Dhoni perform? Will he appear today? How’s his injury? The questions continue to dominate social media, with CSK fans eager to see their superstar in action. The topic has resurfaced again as Dhoni is yet to play a match this season due to a calf injury chennai super kings bowling coach Eric Simmons Addressing the media ahead of the IPL 2026 clash between Delhi Capitals and Chennai Super Kings.Simmons said Dhoni is yet to feature in the away game against Delhi Capitals although he is making steady progress.Halfway through the season, CSK are about to enter their 10th match in what has been an underwhelming campaign. As has been the case every season since his retirement from the national team, speculation has been rife over the 44-year-old Indian superstar’s future in the IPL.In the pre-match interaction, it was not surprising that Dhoni, who has been playing in the Nets recently, was asked the first question.“Updated on MS Dhoni Well above my pay grade. He is not with us (in Delhi) but is making steady progress. When he’s ready, he’s ready and he knows when he’s ready to play. “This is what Simmons said about the team’s idol.Talking about the bowling unit, Simmons was full of praise for Anshul Kamboj, who impressed at all stages and emerged as the joint-highest wicket-taker with 17 scalps.“Anshul is gone. The Anshul you saw today is not from this season, he started last year. What we have done, he has come into the domestic season and worked on different angles to approach the crease, especially for his yorkers to be more accurate. We have introduced around the wicket and that is no secret now.“There are a lot of nuances in what we do around the wicket that make him particularly effective. He picks up wickets and is also able to limit the run rate. But I think it really comes down to his professionalism, the way he trains,” Simmons said.“If you stand next to me and look at the way he trains, the way he understands what he wants to do, what I call simplicity and clarity, I think in the modern game bowlers need to know what they want to do. He knows his tactics very well and he knows his court setup very well. There’s no gray area with him,” Simmons added.CSK has four wins from nine games and is in a must-win situation in the remaining five league games. They arrived in Delhi after a comprehensive victory over Mumbai Indians. Simmons still believes his team can still make the playoffs from here.“There has been some separation between the top four and the rest of the teams, but our destiny is still in our own hands and we know we can beat any team in the league. So if we continue to play to our potential, there is no reason why we can’t be at the top. When we play well, we really look invincible,” he said.
