Jackson Township Fire Department releases statement explain “Crews from the Jackson Township Fire Department in Stark County, Ohio are on scene at Fosnaught’s Auto Parts (6025 Whipple Ave NW). Callers reported an explosion and a small structure on fire with black smoke. The City of Green Fire, North Canton Fire Department and Plain Twp Fire are providing mutual aid. Police are currently closing Whipple Ave NW. Please avoid the area.”

An explosion was reported, the statement said. There is no official information on how the fire started or if anyone was injured.

Guangzhou fire: horrific visuals and reactions

Thick smoke could be seen blowing in the wind. “There are reports of a fire on Whipple Avenue in North Canton,” a local news page wrote, sharing the photo. The Canton Fire Department has not released an official statement on the fire.

A local independent journalist provided more details about the fire. He wrote on Facebook: “Reports of a fire following an explosion in the Bearden area of ​​Jackson Township, with large amounts of black smoke rising into the sky. Authorities are currently on scene. Police are blocking Whipple Avenue in the area.”

“Preliminary information indicates this occurred at Fosnaught’s Auto Parts, which is located in Whipple near the intersection of Dressler and Whipple. The property is a scrapyard that handles scrap metal,” he added.

“The explosion is believed to have started the fire. The extent of the injuries is unknown at this time. The Jackson Township Fire Department is the primary responding department, with North Canton and Greene providing mutual aid at the scene.”

“They’re having access issues and the fire is getting out of control. I’m going to be up all night,” one person wrote, while another shared a photo.

The fire had many praying for safety and expressing concern. “Is everyone okay? I saw it on fire on the highway. I’ve never seen anything like this before!” one netizen wrote. Another added, “I can see the smoke coming from Interstate 77 at the Arlington exit! Hope everyone is okay!!”
