International League T20 (ILT20) is redoubling efforts on fixture strategy ahead of Season 5, CEO David White The reasons for the UAE League to open earlier, in November-December 2026, were explained.Looking back on the previous edition, White pointed out a key shift that helped lead to a strong fourth quarter.
“We did change the window for Season 4 due to the clash with the ICC World Cup in India. We changed the window and brought it forward and it was very successful. We have good player availability. Our commercial indicators are very good,” he told TimesofIndia.com.Scheduling adjustments translate into benefits across the board.“Our broadcast numbers are up and it’s been well received by all the teams, commercial partners, etc.”Building on this momentum, ILT20 is taking place earlier this year, with the competition scheduled to take place from November 22 to December 20.“But what we’re doing this year is actually moving that window forward even more. So we’re going to start from November 22nd to December 20th, which we believe is going to be a really great window.”The reason is clear – to create a largely uncluttered space in the increasingly crowded global T20 calendar.“We believe it will be a cleaner window. There will be no overlap with other T20 leagues around the world. I think there is a four-day overlap with the Big Bash (league). But other than that, it is a very clean window.”

That clarity has translated into stronger player interest, White said.“We’ve had great feedback and we’re getting great player availability from world-class players around the world. So really looking forward to it. “In addition to the schedule, the league is also strengthening its regional identity and development focus. ILT20 is positioning itself not only as a UAE championship but also as a platform for the wider Gulf.“We will continue to build on the success we had last year with Kuwaiti players and Saudi players. That is really gaining momentum as we see ourselves not just as a league in the UAE but as a league representing the GCC region,” said the former New Zealand cricketer and executive.Player development, especially for league nations, remains central to the league’s structure.“We are proud that we have made it compulsory for associate members to join the playing eleven. This is really popular and an important part of the associate member development programme.”With preparations underway, the focus now turns to team building and business alliances.“The program is progressing very well. We are working very hard with our commercial partners and the team.”“I think within the next 4-6 weeks we will have the first wave of announcements about retaining players.”
