captain of punjab kings Shreyas Iyer He remained calm and reflective after his team’s back-to-back defeats, insisting the team was in a strong position despite the setbacks. After losing to Gujarat Titans, Iyer felt that 163 was a competitive total considering the nature of the pitch. He pointed out that the ground helped the bowlers early on and praised the opponents for taking better advantage of this. “I personally thought it was a good result on the wicket, the ball did some work early on…their bowlers made the most of the surface,” he said.PBKS was rocked early, losing four wickets in the powerplay, but a Suryansh Shedge-led revival helped them to a fighting total. Iyer acknowledged the effort. “It was a phenomenal effort to get to 160 from there,” he pointed out, while also admitting that his bowlers could not replicate the same control with the new ball.He emphasized execution as the key differentiator, especially on a pitch with variable bounce where hitting the ball isn’t easy. “It’s not easy to hit mid-wicket or pull the ball…We were a little behind in terms of execution,” Iyer explained.Despite the loss, the PBKS captain was quick to highlight the positives, particularly the team’s attitude and resilience. “The way we fought until the end, deserves credit. The attitude and approach were very good,” he said.Importantly, Iyer reminded that Kings XI Punjab remain at the top of the table. “We are still at the top of the table and that is what matters. We will take positives from this game,” he added, stressing the importance of staying grounded.Looking ahead, Ayer is optimistic about rebounding in the next game. He emphasized the importance of preparation and mentality and said the team has been putting in the work behind the scenes. “If you have good character and the right attitude, you’ll get results eventually… Just stick to our fundamentals and don’t overthink it.”PBKS may suffer brief lapses as the playoff race heats up, but their captain’s message is clear – stay calm, trust the process and the results will follow.
