Bhavanisagar election results 2026: TVK’s Vice President Tamilselvi defeats AIADMK’s A Bannari by a margin of 5,469 votes

Bhavani Sagar Assembly constituency is located in Erode district of Tamil Nadu and is reserved for candidates from the Scheduled Caste category. In the 2026 Assembly polls, Vice President Tamil Selvi won by 72,391 votes, defeating AIADMK’s A Bannari by a margin of 4,569 votes. Bannari came second with 67,822 votes, while CPI’s PL Sundaram got 63,107 votes. The constituency is part of the Nilgiris Lok Sabha constituency and represents a major agricultural belt in the Kongu region. The elections here saw contests between the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and the Communist Party of India (CPI), reflecting the different political clout in the constituency.In the 2016 parliamentary election, this constituency had a total of 2,39,778 electors and 1,96,551 valid votes. AIADMK candidate S Eswaran won with 83,006 votes, defeating DMK candidate R Sathya (69,902 votes). The AIADMK recorded a clear victory in this constituency with a lead of 13,104 votes.Earlier, in the 2011 Assembly elections, Bhavani Sagar had 1,99,502 electors and 1,63,511 valid votes. Communist Party of India (CPI) candidate PL Sundaram won the seat with 82,890 votes, defeating DMK candidate R Logeswari, who polled 63,487 votes. The winning margin was 19,403 votes, reflecting the influence of left-wing parties in the constituency during this election cycle.Historically, seats have alternated between political parties. DMK candidate O Subramaniam won the constituency in 2006, while AIADMK’s P Chithambaram triumphed in 2001, suggesting that Bhavani Sagar experienced a shift in voter preferences influenced by alliance dynamics and broader political trends in Tamil Nadu.
