They tell you that your hard work and sacrifice paid off,” he said.“But at the end of the day, cricket is a team sport. You want to win trophies. You want to be part of a successful team. That’s always been my goal.”He also reaffirmed his commitment to play every season, no matter which team he plays for.“Every season, I try my best to win the IPL, no matter which team I play for. That is the most important thing for me,” Rahul added.“Personal milestones are good. They reassure me that I am on the right path. But what really makes me happy is winning as many trophies as MS Dhoni.”Rahul’s remarks came after he surpassed Dhoni’s 5,528 runs to become the fifth-highest run-scorer in IPL history. He has now scored 5,579 runs in 152 games and 143 innings at an average of 46.88 and a strike rate of 138.37, with six centuries and 42 fifties.The 2026 season has been great for Rahul. He scored 433 points in nine games with an average of 54.13 and a strike rate of 185.84.His campaign was also filled with record-breaking performances. Rahul became the third cricketer in the history of IPL to score more than 150 runs and also recorded the highest individual score by an Indian in the tournament. He recorded the fastest century ever for Delhi Capitals and now holds the franchise’s highest individual score record.Despite Rahul’s brilliance, Delhi Capitals have struggled to maintain consistency. The team currently sits sixth in the standings with just four wins from nine games.For Rahul, the message remains clear. Personal milestones may come and go, but it’s the pursuit of trophies that defines success.
