New Delhi: Five-time champion despite a mammoth record of 243/5 mumbai indians Eventually, Sunrisers Hyderabad chased down the target with eight balls remaining but failed. MI’s bowlers, including ace pacer Jasprit Bumrahsurvived the rest day. Known for his lethal bowling to turn games around, Bumrah conceded 54 runs in four overs without taking a wicket.Despite such a huge aggregate scoreline, the disappointment of losing the game was palpable for the skipper Hardik PandyaAlthough he admitted that bowling resources were stretched thin. Not just Bumrah, Ashwani Kumar’s performance was also costly as he conceded 41 runs in two overs at an economy rate of 20.50. Spinner Allah Ghazanfar took two wickets but missed 51 runs in four overs at 12.80.With this defeat, Mumbai Indians are in ninth place with four points from eight games, while Sunrisers Hyderabad have moved up to third place with 12 points from nine games.“I think we don’t have many options this season and we really need to see what we can do. I’m not going to throw my bowlers under the bus. I don’t think as a whole we can do what Mumbai Indians stand for,” Pandya said when asked about how he planned to tackle the bowling attack after failing to defend a strong total.“We really need to look at what we need to do,” he added. The MI captain said that with the continued support of the franchise owners and support staff, the team will find a way forward.“We have passionate owners and support staff and hopefully we can find something.”He also expressed regret for the loyal Mumbai Indians fans, admitting that the team did not cheer them enough.“We didn’t give them many chances to support us but they were very good and loyal. Sometimes it hurts when the opposition comes and they start chanting their names. But we probably need to give them more chances (cheering and shouting),” he said.Pandya, however, praised the performance of the batting unit while admitting that missed chances – including missed catches – had hurt the team.“Yes, I enjoyed (batting) and I had a lot of fun on the field today. Yes, I wanted 244 and I thought I would back my bowlers to stop it but today we couldn’t execute.“I think it’s been a season (of missed chances on the field). When you get a few chances, you take them and that’s when luck and momentum change. If you don’t, it hurts you… All the boys tried their best. They gave everything but it didn’t work out,” he added.Mumbai Indians next face Chennai Super Kings on Saturday.
