Severe weather affected parts of North Texas on Tuesday, with reports of damage from a confirmed tornado east of Mine Shaft and widespread large hail in the area.

Radar showed a confirmed tornado moving southeast at about 25 mph along Highway 180 west of Cool, about 3 miles east of Mine Shaft, according to storm warnings and tracking reports. The storm’s path impacted communities such as Mineshaft, Weatherford, Brock, Hudson Oaks and nearby areas.

Reports of damage and possible injuries
Residents and storm watchers described severe haildamaging winds and possible rainfall tornadoes affecting areas such as Mineshaft Walters Village.
Reports showed structural damage in the affected area, and at least one person was reportedly rescued from the rubble. There are also unsubstantiated claims of injuries; however, authorities have not verified reports of injuries.

Tornado watch issued for North Central Texas
The National Weather Service has issued Tornado Warning 171, which remains in effect for parts of north central Texas until 9 PM CDT tonight.
The watch spans 28 counties, covering most of the region and covering much of the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area and surrounding areas.
Supervised counties include: Collin, Cook, Dallas, Delta, Denton, Eastland, Ellis, Erath, Fannin, Grayson, Hood, Hopkins, Hunter, Jack, Johnson, Kaufman, Lamar, Montague, Palo Pinto, Parker, Raines, Rockwall, Somerville, Stephens, Tarrant, VanZant, Wise and Young.
Cities within warning range
Major cities affected by the watch include Dallas, fort worthArlington, Plano, McKinney, Denton, Lewisville, Frisco, Garland, Irving, Mesquite, Carrollton, Allen and Rockwall, as well as many smaller communities such as Weatherford, Mineral Wells, Sherman, Paris, Greenville and Stephenville.
Other cities of interest include Bonham, Bowie, Breckenridge, Burleson, Cleburne, Commerce, Decatur, Ennis, Gainesville, Granbury, Terrell, Waxahachie and others.
What does a watch mean?
A tornado watch means conditions in and near the watch area are favorable for the development of tornadoes and severe thunderstorms. Residents are advised to remain vigilant, monitor weather conditions and be prepared to evacuate when warnings are issued.
