WASHINGTON: President Trump on Sunday used a shooting at a gala he attended in Washington to push his plan to build a giant ballroom next to the White House, which faces legal challenges.“What happened last night is exactly why our great military, the Secret Service, law enforcement, and every president over the past 150 years, for different reasons, have been asking for a large, safe and secure ballroom on the White House grounds,” Trump wrote on the Truth Social platform. The $400 million ballroom has become a passion project for Trump. Trump praised the security features of the proposed ballroom in a post on Sunday. “With the top-secret military ballroom currently under construction at the White House, this event would never have happened,” Trump wrote.“It can’t be built fast enough! As beautiful as it is, it has all the highest level safety features.”
