Attendees included Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Secretary of State Marco Rubio.U.S. Attorney Jeanne Pirro said in a video released after the shooting: “I was escorted out of the ballroom after the shots rang out. The Secret Service is now in charge of this building, this hotel. I just spoke with Mayor Muriel Bowser. She’s on her way, and so is (Police) Chief Jeffrey Carroll. He’ll be in charge as soon as he gets here.”
