A small plane crashes near Brooklyn Park Crystal Airport, minnesotaprompting an emergency response and prompting a federal investigation as officials work to piece together what happened.

Early footage from the scene showed a plume of smoke rising near a residential area. social media account Quick report “Plane crash near Crystal Airport, Minnesota, smoke rising into the air,” was posted on X, along with a video of smoke rising from the crash site.

Emergency personnel rushed to the scene

Multiple law enforcement agencies and firefighters responded to the crash site just north of Crystal Airport near County Road 81, FOX 9 Minnesota reported.

A KSTP photographer also witnessed a plume of smoke and then spotted first responders surrounding what appeared to be a downed aircraft near Southbrook Park, less than a mile from the airport.

Authorities cordoned off the area while crews began assessing the situation.

Plane disappears from radar after takeoff

Flight tracking data shows the 1991 Beech F33A aircraft took off around 11:30 a.m. and was heading north before disappearing from radar shortly after takeoff. Traffic camera footage reviewed by local media showed smoke coming from the area around noon, consistent with early reports of the accident.
