Lucknow: Former Ranji player from Lucknow, Tammei Srivastavawho will serve as an on-field umpire for the first time in an IPL match against Kings XI Punjab rajasthan royals The match will be held at Mullanpur on April 28.Srivastava, who made his IPL debut as a player for Kings XI Punjab in 2008, will return in a new role for the same team after a gap of 18 years.He became the first umpire from Uttar Pradesh to officiate in an IPL match. Last year, he made his IPL debut as the fourth umpire.
He has been designated as on-field referee for four matches this season: Kings XI Punjab vs Rajasthan Royals (April 28), Delhi Capitals vs Chennai Super Kings (May 5), Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Mumbai Indians (May 10) and Chennai Super Kings vs Sunrisers Hyderabad (May 18). He will also serve as fourth referee and television referee in several games.Srivastava began his cricketing journey on the pitches of Lucknow as part of India’s Under-19 World Cup-winning squad. He initially played at Chowk and KD Singh Babu Stadium before moving to Green Park Hostel and represented Kanpur from under-14 cricket to first-class cricket.Srivastava also worked as a scout for RCB and later entered the coaching field and passed the Level 2 coaching exam. He has also served as fielding coach for the Jammu and Kashmir Ranji team and batting coach for the under-16 team at the National Cricket Academy.He then turned to refereeing and has been involved in refereeing for the past three years. Srivastava is the former India U-19 team captain who played 90 first-class matches and scored 4,918 runs.
