Rust was last seen wearing a black V-neck shirt, a princess-cut sapphire ring, a diamond engagement ring and a white gold cross necklace with diamonds. Her family told police at the time there was no reason for her to disappear alone because she loved her son. While it’s unclear what new evidence led to Dwight’s arrest, Rust’s parents are reportedly the only suspects cleared in her disappearance.

Michel Rust case: what happened
Rust is believed to have been preparing for his son’s third birthday party when he disappeared. Dwight told police she left her home around 9:30 a.m. to go to the store to buy some items for her son’s birthday party but never returned. However, witnesses reportedly said they did not see Rust leave the house or drive her vehicle at that time.
Police said Rust was last seen driving a green Dodge van. However, they reportedly have long not ruled out foul play in the case.
