Chennai Super Kings top-order batsman Ayush Mhatre has been ruled out of the remainder of IPL 2026 after he injured his left hamstring during the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 18.The team confirmed the development in an official statement on Monday, adding that the injury would require a recovery period of six to 12 weeks, effectively ending Mhatt’s season.“Ayush Mhatre has been ruled out of the remainder of IPL 2026 due to a left hamstring injury sustained while batting against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 18.Ayush’s injury will require a recovery period of 6-12 weeks.We wish Ayush a speedy recovery,” the team said in a statement on social media.The 18-year-old was dropped before opening his account but he made SRH pay, smashing Praful Hinge for 24 in the third over and scoring 30 off 13 balls (five fours, one six) as CSK surged to 60/1 in four overs.However, Mhatte stopped trying to play a double, visibly feeling discomfort after a hamstring injury. His movement was noticeably limited and he subsequently dropped two balls. The setback proved to be decisive, giving SRH momentum and they eventually won by 10 runs.Before his injury, Mhat was in excellent form and emerged as CSK’s important top-order batsman with a strike rate of nearly 180. In 6 games, he scored 201 points with a shooting percentage of 177 and 88. He scored two fifties.
