Madison Warner, 36 daughter Sen. Mark Warner, D-Va., and his wife, Lisa Collis, confirmed Monday that he has died. Madison Warner has been working with teenagers diabetes and other health issues that contributed to her death, the Warner family confirmed.

“We are heartbroken beyond words to learn that our beloved daughter Madison passed away at age 36 after a decades-long battle with juvenile diabetes and other health issues,” the senator and his wife wrote in a statement. “She filled our lives with love and laughter, and her passing leaves an immeasurable void.”
“We thank our friends and family for their loving support during this difficult time and ask for privacy as we work through this profound loss.”

Although Mark Warner has held public office for more than a decade, his eldest daughter’s health issues have never been publicly discussed. Despite noting in the statement that she has suffered from juvenile diabetes “for over a decade,” it has never been publicly discussed by Mark Warner or his wife Lisa before.
Warner mentioned in 2013 that one of his daughters has type 1 diabetes. Posts on Senator Warner’s website Documented his advocacy for special diabetes programsnoted: “One of Senator Warner’s three daughters also has type 1 diabetes, and he continues to work side by side with other families affected by diabetes to fight for funding and support for diabetes research.”
However, no further details about who the daughter is were revealed in the show.
