Kalyani: A Trinamool Congress MP was arrested from West Bengal’s Nadia district on Friday. Rajib Dalal, who represents ward 17 and was the first chairman of Harimhata Municipality, was picked up from his residence. The arrest was allegedly related to an altercation that took place on the day TMC candidate Rajib Biswas filed his nomination. Dalal is accused of getting into an argument with election officials. Dalal was produced on Friday before the Kalyani divisional court, which remanded him in custody till Monday. The arrest triggered a strong reaction from Dalal’s family and party colleagues. While his wife Sujata termed the arrest as politically motivated, TMC neta Chanchal Debnath and municipal president Debasish Bose said the arrest without notice was unjustified.
