case against Taylor Robinson22-year-old charged with killing TPUSA founder charlie kirk at Utah Valley University in September 2025 has become even more disturbing. New forensic details have been released about the bullet used in the shooting.

What did the forensic report say?
According to newly unsealed documents, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) examined bullet fragments found during the autopsy. According to reports, one of the bullet jacket fragments matched “.30 caliber grade deformed/damaged bullet jacket fragments.” Daily Mail.
This matched the caliber of a Mauser 98 30-06 rifle found near the scene, which prosecutors believe was the weapon used in the shooting. Robinson received the rifle as a gift from his grandfather.
The report also states that the rifle was tested and found to be functioning properly. A shell casing found at the scene had a “Remington face” on it and was confirmed to have been fired from the same rifle.

However, damaged bullet fragments cannot be attached directly to the rifle. The examiner said it could not “conclusively establish an association or exclusion” because it was too damaged.
Even so, investigators said the evidence supported the case because the bullet type and cartridge matched the rifle.
The defense’s point is that bullets cannot be strapped directly to the gun. They also tried to block further testing, saying it could compromise the evidence. However, prosecutors want more tests to gather more details.
The defense has asked the court to allow their experts to be present or record during the testing, but prosecutors noted the FBI does not allow that.
Robinson is due back in court on April 17, with a preliminary hearing scheduled for May 17.

He also wrote, “I guess I’ll just sit in the car and watch for another hour and hope this guy gets out of here.”
