On Wednesday, as the tax filing deadline approaches, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessant provided several major updates for those using IRS Form 4547 to open a Trump account.
The $1,000 pilot program is available to children born between 2025 and 2028. Speaking at a CNBC event on Wednesday, Bessant said more than 5 million Americans have registered for Trump accounts through Form 4547.
Given the overwhelming response to the US president’s flagship program, Bessant reiterated that the $1,000 payments for children were “just a starting point” and that beneficiaries would also be eligible for future benefits.
