Karandiji (WB): Defense minister on campaign trail in West Bengal Rajnath Singh Slams CM on Wednesday Mamata Banerjee In an effort to deindustrialize the country, a policy of fear and appeasement was allegedly practiced under her leadership and the polls were seen as a fight between local residents and infiltrators for land and survival.“Do you want fear or security, corruption or development, intimidation or democracy,” he asked an enthusiastic crowd at Kumarganj in South Dinajpur, before saying, “…it is time you vote for the BJP for justice and development.”He claimed that the PPP government would identify and deport infiltrators and mentioned “Operation Bulldozer” against criminal elements, drawing loud cheers from the crowd at another meeting in North Dinajpur. He said that while Mamata accused the BJP of being an outsider, she considered the infiltrators to be her own, and cited the Modi government’s efforts to confer high honors on Bengali icons such as Subhas Chandra Bose and Bankim Chandra Chatterjee, as well as the party’s association with Jana Sangh founder Syama Prasad Mookerjee, to emphasize its ties with the state. In Dakshindinajpur, he expressed confidence in the BJP coming to power in the state but warned voters that Mamata would take West Bengal back to the Stone Age if they missed the chance to vote out the “corrupt” and “lawless” TMC government. He said the TMC now stood for “total tyranny and corruption”.He accused the TMC government of appeasing Muslims, raising the issue of including 75 Muslim castes out of 77 communities under the OBC category and emphasizing on infrastructure development in minority-dominated areas. While denouncing developments guided by caste and religious priorities, he assured Muslims, who constitute nearly half of North Dinajpur’s population, that the BJP government will be guided by justice and humanity. He added that this would not appease anyone. The TMC presides over a “corrupt” system where victims of crime find it difficult to access justice. “Under the TMC, fear and insecurity prevail and the country has been put on a ventilator,” he said. This is in stark contrast to the country’s overall economic growth under Modi.
