eyewitness reports
Some witnesses and local residents reported the fire and smoke on social media.
One resident asked, “Was that fire at SAC State? I was leaving parking lot 3 and as I walked out of the school I saw a huge smoke cloud that looked like it was on campus or maybe in the apartment next to it.”
Another added, “The pulse says 400 college but I’m near Howe Park and it looks closer than that.”
A third reported, “Walk up to Whyda and look down Bell, it looks like it’s near Howey so the pulse point is probably right and it’s near Raleys and Urban Plates.”
Another wrote: “Yes I saw a plume of smoke. Not 100% sure where it was but it seemed to be close to the office building near Howe that burned a few weeks ago.”

Another added, “Looks pretty big. Can see the smoke on the causeway. Hope it gets under control, it’s very windy today, who knows.”
