Trump shared an AI-generated image of himself on Truth Social showing an image of Jesus Christ: depicting a man being healed, surrounded by American flags and bald eagles. However, the post was removed due to backlash.

The now-deleted image showed Trump wearing a white gown with a glowing hand on the patient’s forehead, the BBC reported.

The article came shortly after Trump publicly criticized Pope Leo XIV for his stance on the Iran war and immigration. In an interview with reporters, Trump said he was “not a big fan of the Pope” and accused him of being “weak on crime” and ineffective in foreign policy.

Expert Carmine Sabia criticized the post, saying he would “always support” Jesus Christ over any politician, and called Trump’s actions “reprehensible.”

Likewise, Meghan Basham urged the president to remove the image, calling it “shameless blasphemy” and suggesting he should seek clemency.

MAGA allies join in criticism

This backlash also extends to young and prominent MAGA voices. Influencer Brilyn Hollyhand Wrote “Faith is not a pillar,” arguing that leaders should not portray themselves as saviors.

Other right-wing figures, including Milo Yiannopoulos and Riley Gaines, have also questioned Trump’s intentions, with Gaines calling “A little humility” and warned that “God will not be mocked.”

The rift is widening

Since the war with Iran began, several prominent figures, including Owens and Greene, have broken with Trump over his reckless foreign policy.

The incident also exacerbated Trump’s feud with Pope Leo XIV. Responding to criticism, the pope said he has “no fear” of the Trump administration and will continue to preach the Gospel message.
