The Indian Embassy in Germany posted on

“This visit follows the successful visit of His Excellency Prime Minister Frederik Merz to India in January 2026 and reflects the continued regular high-level engagement between India and Germany,” the statement added.

Misri will co-chair the India-Germany Ministry of Foreign Affairs consultations along with Gesar Andreas von Geer, State Secretary at the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said before the visit that the discussions will cover various areas of bilateral cooperation, including trade and investment, defense and security, technology, green energy, development cooperation, education and people-to-people relations, as well as global and regional issues of common interest.

Indian Ambassador to Germany Ajit Gupta said in a social media post that his visit provided an opportunity to comprehensively review the India-Germany strategic partnership.

He added that it was planned to “advance discussions on key pillars of the bilateral agenda and exchange views on regional and global developments” during the visit.

Misri arrived in Germany from France, where he discussed a wide range of issues including civilian nuclear energy, defence, space and digital cooperation.

His visit to France and Germany comes amid rising tensions in West Asia, with the United States and Iran failing to reach a lasting peace deal to end hostilities after marathon talks in Pakistan over the weekend.

Amid a deepening global energy crisis, U.S. President Donald Trump announced a blockade of the Strait of Hormuz to curtail Iran’s oil supplies to China and other countries.
