His availability for MI’s match against Kings XI Punjab in Mumbai on Thursday will depend on the outcome.“Yes, Rohit underwent an MRI (at HL Reliance Hospital) on Monday morning to ascertain the extent of his hamstring injury. If the results don’t look good, he may even miss a few games. The scan results will be out this evening,” a source aware of the development told TOI.
The 38-year-old retired player suffered the injury during MI’s 18-run loss to Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday. He left the field in the sixth over after scoring 19 off 13 balls, including two fours and a six.Before retiring due to injury, Rohit was attended to by the MI physio before the first ball of that match. After a brief pause to heal, he returned to face the next delivery, blocked it, and left the field.Rohit has had hamstring issues in the past. “I’m not entirely sure yet — maybe a hamstring issue — but I can’t say for sure. I was in the dugout, so I don’t have a lot of information,” teammate Shelfin Rutherford said after the game.Rohit had just completed 15 years with MI, scoring 137 runs in four games, including a half-century.
