chief minister of west bengal Mamata Banerjee The Bharatiya Janata Party has threatened all-India Trinamool Congress candidates, including state ministers, to get their support if the party fails to secure a majority after the assembly elections, it said on Sunday. She also claimed that the Center was planning a delimitation exercise to bifurcate West Bengal into three parts and parts of the state may be merged with Bihar or Odisha, which she said would cause hardship to residents of Bengal.“BJP is threatening TMC candidates, including state ministers, to seek their support if they fail to get a majority after the assembly elections,” Banerjee said while addressing poll rallies in Asansol in Pashimbardaman, Chatna and Onda in Bankura district and Kandagosh in Purbabardaman.“The BJP is planning to bring a delimitation bill to bifurcate West Bengal into three parts. It may merge parts of West Bengal with Bihar or Odisha and torture the Bengalis there,” she added, PTI reported.Banerjee claimed that the BJP had reached a deal worth Rs 1,000 crore to oust the All India Trinamool Congress party from power in the state. Her remarks were referring to a viral video of Humayun Kabir, in which he allegedly claimed to have links with BJP leaders including Suvendu Adhikari and claimed to have received an advance of Rs 200 crore from a Rs 1,000-crore scheme to split minority votes and defeat the TMC.The TMC has sought an inquiry into the matter, while the BJP and the Aam Janata Unnayan Party have denied that the video was generated by artificial intelligence.“They (BJP) have made a deal worth Rs 1,000 crore to oust the TMC from power in West Bengal,” she said. But they forget their promises soon after the polls close. This was evident in the Bihar elections.”Banerjee further claimed that the BJP would try to influence the voting process and urged voters to remain vigilant and monitor voting machines.“Be wary of voting machines. The BJP plans slow voting and slow counting of votes. Frustrate all their plans,” Banerjee said. She also claimed that the BJP was planning to serve “medicated tea and sweets” to people to “rob votes”.
