Researcher Dr. Ann Burgess said in a recent episode Brian Entin Investigates Nancy may have been kidnapped out of revenge. “I thought something was wrong inside the house,” she said, noting that blood was found at the scene.

“In her orbit — let’s call it, it could be family, it could be friends — will be hurt the most [by the kidnapping]? ‘ Ann wondered. ‘There might be something out there that we don’t know about, and it’s up to the people in her orbit to figure it out. Because this is a really mean, angry, horrible thing to do. And then if something went wrong – and I think it clearly did – then it wouldn’t make sense that she would be the target of something other than kidnapping her. “

Ann said she believed there could be multiple motives for Nancy’s kidnapping.
“Is there revenge? Is there revenge? You want to go down the line of possible motives, which is some way of revenge or whatever. I’m just listing them. I’m not suggesting that this is any of them, but these are all possible motives. I mean, that’s what we usually do anytime we analyze and try to pursue a motive,” said the Designing a Killer author.
Months after her disappearance, there has been no update on her whereabouts and no suspects have been found. While the Guthrie family has been racked by uncertainty about the outcome of the case, her daughter Savannah has even previously acknowledged that her mother may be dead.
Savannah previously said in the video that she and her relatives “still believe in miracles” and “still believe she can come home,” and she also admitted her mother may be “gone.”
“She may have gone back to the Lord she loved and is dancing in heaven with her mom, her dad, her beloved brother Pierce and our dad,” Savannah said. “If that’s what it is, then we’ll accept that. But we need to know where she is. We need her home.”
