Within an hour of the Amber Alert being issued, a missing 12-year-old girl from Iowa was found safe and a 23-year-old Michigan man was charged with kidnapping.The girl from Waterloo was reported missing Sunday, prompting authorities to activate a statewide Amber Alert, police said. The case moved quickly as investigators tracked the suspect’s vehicle to the town of Coloma, Michigan, nearly 400 miles from the eastern shore of Lake Michigan.Police quickly located the vehicle and found the child inside with the suspect. Authorities confirmed the girl was safe after being rescued.After investigation, Waterloo police identified the suspect as 23-year-old Daniyal Khan from Ann Arbor, Michigan. He was charged with second-degree kidnapping, child molestation and sexual exploitation of a minor.Khan was taken into custody and is currently being held at the Berrien County Jail in Michigan.Police said the Amber Alert played a key role in the child’s speedy recovery. The alert was issued shortly after the girl was reported missing to allow law enforcement to act quickly across state lines.Officials have not released further details about how the girl was taken or the circumstances that led up to the incident.
