Iran has rejected U.S. proposals aimed at ending the ongoing conflict, insisting that any ceasefire can only be on its own terms and timetable, a senior political and security official told Press TV on Wednesday.“Iran has said it will end the war when it decides to do so and its own conditions are met,” the official said, adding that Tehran would continue to respond militarily and deliver “heavy blows” until its demands were met.The Tehran official said Washington has been seeking talks through various diplomatic channels but called its proposals “excessive” and divorced from battlefield realities. The latest U.S. overtures through regional intermediaries are seen as an attempt to heighten tensions rather than resolve them.Here are the demands made by Iranian officials:
- Stop attacks and assassinations: Tehran demands that its opponents completely stop what it calls “aggression and assassinations.”
- Guarantees against future wars: Iran has called for the establishment of specific mechanisms to ensure the country does not fall back into conflict.
- War damages: Tehran is seeking guaranteed and clearly defined war damages and compensation.
- End the conflict on all fronts: Iran insists any deal must include an end to hostilities on all fronts and among allies in the region.
- Sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz: The official said Iran wants its sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz to be internationally recognized and guaranteed.
“No negotiations will be held before then,” the official said, stressing that military operations would continue until those conditions were met. “The war will end when Iran decides it will end, not when Trump envisions it ending,” the official added.The comments come as fighting between Iran and Israel continues, with the United States also getting involved, carrying out attacks on Iranian infrastructure, while Tehran continues to fire missiles in response.
