These included posts supporting the Palestinian cause and criticizing U.S. foreign policy.The resurfaced posts are said to date back to when Duvaji was in his late teens or early 20s. The account this content appears on is no longer active.The controversy comes just months after Duvaj became New York City’s first lady after her husband was elected mayor in 2025. She is an artist and illustrator and does not hold any official position in city government.Mayor Mamdani previously responded to criticism of his wife’s social media activity, saying she was a private person and held no official role in his administration.The issue sparked a backlash online, with critics questioning the content of the post and supporters urging caution and noting that some claims were based on unsubstantiated material on the internet.This is not the first time Duvaji’s past online activities have come under scrutiny. Earlier, her likes on social media posts related to the October 7, 2023 Hamas attack had sparked controversy.
