As the UAE celebrates Eid al-Fitr on March 20 with no sighting of the Shawal Crescent, authorities in Abu Dhabi have introduced safety guidelines to ensure smooth and safe celebrations across the emirate. The announcement came after the moon viewing process on Wednesday evening, confirming the end of Ramadan and the start of Eid al-Fitr 2026 on Friday. The holiday coincides with rising regional tensions, with Iran’s attacks on Gulf states continuing for nearly three weeks in response to joint attacks by the United States and Israel that began on February 28. Ahead of the celebrations, Abu Dhabi Police and Abu Dhabi Civil Defense issued a set of prevention and safety guidelines urging residents to exercise caution during the festive period.

  • Stay alert and reduce your speed, especially in residential areas
  • Give way to emergency vehicles
  • Avoid using or handling fireworks
  • Drive responsibly and avoid stunts or reckless behavior
  • Do not allow children to play near or across the road without supervision

The guidelines are part of a wider proactive plan which includes increased security and traffic patrols on main roads, key areas, public gathering places, shopping centers and parks. As large crowds are expected during Eid, these measures are aimed at ensuring safety while allowing residents to celebrate the festival without disruption.
