Two Calgary residents were arrested after police found nearly eight kilograms of fentanyl in their car during a traffic stop on a highway in Saskatchewan, Canada.According to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), the drugs were seized during a patrol on January 28, 2025. Police stopped a car on Highway 1, part of the Trans-Canada Highway.During a search of the vehicle, police found approximately eight kilograms of fentanyl under the spare tire. Police detained two passengers in the vehicle as part of a drug trafficking investigation. The suspects were identified as Swati Narula, 27, and Kunwardeep Singh, 29, both residents of Calgary, Alberta. Authorities say the pair told investigators they were heading to Regina when traffic stopped.Narula and Singh were both charged with one count of trafficking in a controlled substance and one count of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking. They appeared in Swift Current Provincial Court on January 29, 2025.Kunwardeep Singh was released on $25,000 bail on February 20, 2025. Swati Narula was released on March 4, 2025, on a $10,000 cash bond with the stipulations that she surrender her passport, abide by a nighttime curfew and live within 100 kilometers of her sister’s home in Calgary. Singh’s bail conditions were later relaxed, allowing him to resume his job as a truck driver in Calgary.Furthermore, all charges against them were stayed – Narula on February 24 and Singh on February 27. In Canada, stayed charges can be reopened within a year, but if not, the case is closed. A stay means prosecutors believe there is little chance of a conviction or that continuing the case is not in the public interestPolice say the seizure is significant because of the extremely high potency of fentanyl, a synthetic opioid that has caused overdose deaths across Canada. RCMP Superintendent Grant St. Germain said even a few pills of fentanyl can lead to a fatal overdose. He said the seizure prevented “probably millions of doses” of the drug from reaching the community.

All while exercising his First Amendment rights to protest the ongoing genocide in Palestine,” the New York City mayor posted. “Yet, even in the face of cruelty, there is beauty. As a Jewish community advocate, I want an immediate apology!” wrote another. “This is incredibly offensive to the Jewish community as Mahmoud Khalil has been actively harassing Jewish students on campus for nearly three years. Whether you agree with his deportation or not, his actions are abhorrent and should not be celebrated by the mayor,” wrote the CEO of Jewish organization Ashe.

It’s been a year since that horrific night that marked the beginning of a brutal wave of arrests against protesters for nothing more than telling the truth. Although we have never met, I have known each other since I was detained in Jena, Louisiana when Noor called “I have carried you with me every day since you were taken away. I remember thinking: not again, not another one of us. From that moment on, a part of my heart was tied to your struggle,” Khalil wrote for The Guardian on the first anniversary of his detention.“I’m free, but I’m not free. I took that detention center in Jena with me. I took with me my other detainees – Alex, Ziad, Marcel, Juan and Mamouki. I took with me the cold and the fluorescent lights. I took with me the night they came to arrest me, I walked out The night I went, and every night in between. I carried the knowledge that while I was here, someone else was still there. How much money did U.S. weapons burn in the first two days of the Iran war? Stunning figure exposed
management Donald Trump A reported $5.6 billion worth of weapons (approximately $51,400 crore) within the first two days of US military action against Iran. As a Washington Post report states, that amount only takes into account the cost of munitions used in the early stages of the operation and does not include broader costs associated with deploying troops, aircraft or naval forces in the region.

concerns raised
The estimate has been shared with U.S. lawmakers, raising new concerns washington The U.S. military’s combat readiness was rapidly depleted due to the Iran conflict. Officials expressed concern about the rapid use of advanced precision munitions at the start of the attack. To sustain operations, the White House is expected to seek supplemental defense packages from Congress, which could amount to tens of billions of dollars.
Here’s what the Pentagon has to say
In response to inquiries about the status of U.S. arsenals, Pentagon Spokesman Sean Parnell said the department remains confident in its capabilities.
“The Department of Defense has everything it needs to execute any mission when and where the president chooses and on any schedule,” he said.
According to the Washington Post, U.S. and Israeli forces are expected to increasingly rely on larger stockpiles of laser-guided bombs as operations move further into Iranian territory.
At the same time, the conflict has disrupted large supplies of oil and natural gas to international markets, causing fuel prices to rise in the United States and elsewhere.
Across the region, bombs struck military installations, government buildings, oil and water facilities, hotels and at least one educational institution.
Trump warns Iran
In a new warning, Trump warned Tehran not to block oil exports through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important energy routes.
“If Iran takes any steps to stop the flow of oil in the Strait of Hormuz, they will be hit twenty times harder than the United States of America has been hit to date,” Trump said in a Truth Society post.
“Death, fire and fury will reign over them, but I hope and pray that does not happen,” the president said, adding that such attacks could target places that are “easily destroyed.”

The center sets up a three-person team to solve the problem of “liquefied petroleum gas shortage”; domestic production increases by 10%
NEW DELHI: The Center has constituted a three-member committee to address the ongoing LPG shortage severely affecting the hotel industry, following concerns raised by the ongoing crisis in the Middle East. The new team will assess the scale of disruption, consult hotel and restaurant industry associations and reorganize supply distribution to meet genuine business needs, news agency ANI said, citing government sources. The panel consists of executive directors of Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL).The move comes after the Federation of Hotels and Restaurants Associations of India (FHRAI) wrote to the Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister: Hardeep Singh Purinoted “widespread disruptions in surface LPG supplies” and urged the government to intervene immediately. In response, the three-member committee was tasked to identify bottlenecks in commercial LPG supply and directly interact with hospitality industry stakeholders to address their grievances.Officials said supply priorities would be reprioritized as necessary to ensure continuity for important business sectors such as hotels and restaurants. In recent days, the Center has directed domestic LPG production to increase by 10% and is procuring more LPG and LNG from several international suppliers to stabilize the situation.India initially faced a challenging period following the Iran-Iraq conflict but has mitigated major supply risks thanks to its diversified oil procurement strategy, government sources said. Currently, about 70% of India’s crude oil imports come from outside the Strait of Hormuz, providing a strategic buffer against disruptions in the Middle East. The authorities added that Indian refineries are running at full capacity and the country is better positioned than many others to recover quickly once geopolitical tensions subside. Sources confirmed that no decision has been made on restricting refined oil exports.
Top New York real estate agents Alexander brothers found guilty of sex trafficking
Three brothers, including two of the country’s most successful luxury real estate agents, were convicted of: sex trafficking On Monday, after a five-week trial, they were accused of drugging and raping dozens of women, beguiling them with their wealth and lavish lifestyle.
The verdict came after 11 women testified. manhattan In federal court, they were sexually assaulted by one or more of the brothers: twins Oren and Alon Alexander, 38, and Tal Alexander, 39. All three shook their heads when the jury foreman said “guilty” 19 times in a row, a powerful inference that could land them in prison for life.
Tal Alexander buried his head in his crossed arms. Their shocked parents sat in the gallery behind them. Aaron Alexander’s wife covered her face with her hands and appeared to be holding back tears.
Judge Valerie E. Caproni has scheduled sentencing for Aug. 6. The brothers have been jailed since their arrest in 2024 and their lawyers said they would appeal the sentences.
“We believe in our client’s innocence and we will not stop fighting until we win, and we believe one day we will win,” defense attorney Marc Agnifilo said outside the courthouse.
U.S. Attorney Jay Clayton praised the sentence for vindicating victims of crimes that often go unreported and unpunished.
“The truth is, sex trafficking and other federal sex crimes occur in all walks of life, but we haven’t done enough to eradicate it,” Clayton said in a statement.
Dozens of women say they were drugged and beaten
The verdict represents a crushing defeat for Oren and Tal Alexander, who were once known as the real estate “A Team” for their high-volume sales and celebrity clients. The brothers started their own company after breaking industry giant Douglas Elliman’s sales records. Aaron Alexander runs his family’s private security company.
Victims testified that they met the brothers at nightclubs, parties and on dating apps and were assaulted after accepting their invitations to free vacations to the Hamptons; Aspen, Colorado; and a Caribbean cruise. According to prosecutors, more than 60 women said they were raped by one or more brothers.
Defense lawyers said the accuser had a faulty memory or was hoping to cash in on the brothers’ wealth. Their lawyer admitted that the brothers were both womanizers. But they insisted any sex was consensual.
In addition to the top charge, Aaron Alexander and Tal Alexander were found guilty of sex trafficking of a minor, while Aaron Alexander and Oren Alexander were found guilty of aggravated sexual abuse by use of force or intoxication and sexual abuse of a physically incapacitated person. Oren Alexander was also found guilty of sexual exploitation of a minor after prosecutors showed the jury a video he recorded in which he appeared to attack a drugged 17-year-old.
Lawsuit exposes real estate world’s open secrets
In addition to the criminal cases, the brothers have faced about two dozen lawsuits over the past two years, including one filed last week in which Bravo’s “Million Dollar Listing LA” star Tracy Tutto accused Oren Alexander of drugging and assaulting her while she was attending a real estate event in New York City.
When the first lawsuit was filed, multiple women came forward claiming they too had been assaulted, and the brothers’ inappropriate behavior was an open secret in the real estate community. The government took notice and opened a criminal case.
During the trial, many women who testified said they believed the brothers had poisoned their drinks. Some people describe feeling like they have lost control of their bodies.
One woman testified that she met the brothers at a party in actor Zac Efron’s Manhattan apartment in 2012. She said she had little interaction with the actor, who has not been accused of any wrongdoing, and that later that night she went to a nightclub and woke up naked to find a naked Aaron Alexander standing over her.
“I don’t want to have sex with you,” she testified she told him. “Haha, you already did that,” she remembers him snapping as he “laughed in my face.”
Testimony questions money-driven accusations
Prosecutors disputed the suggestion that the plaintiffs hoped to profit from the lawsuit. Prosecutor Elizabeth Espinoza told jurors that only two people had pending lawsuits and that both were wealthy.
A woman who testified in court said she was raped by Alon Alexander in Aspen, Colorado, in 2017 when she was 17 years old. She said she was the daughter of a billionaire.
“I don’t want their money. I just don’t want them to have it,” she told jurors.
Lindsey Acree, an artist and gallery owner, testified that she was raped by Tal Alexander and another man at a Hamptons home in 2011 after she felt paralyzed after a glass of wine.
The woman said she filed the lawsuit last year even though she “never needed their money” because the Alexanders “kept calling us money worshippers, extortion artists, liars.”
“If there’s a kid with a stick who keeps hitting people, you take his stick away,” she told the jury. “Money is their stick, so you take it away so they can’t hurt other people anymore.”
