More than 50,000 illegal immigrants, including around 1,200 foreign criminals, have been recorded as missing by the UK immigration system after failing to maintain contact with authorities, the Daily Telegraph reported.The newspaper reported that the figures, reviewed by the Independent Chief Inspector of Borders and Immigration and dating back to December 2024, listed more than 50,000 people as absconders in government records.These include failed asylum seekers who allegedly disappeared after their applications were refused, migrants who arrived in the UK but later disappeared while on immigration bail, and foreign criminals who avoided deportation after serving prison sentences.Under UK immigration rules, people on immigration bail must report regularly to the Home Office. Those who fail to do so may be classified as absconders and subject to law enforcement measures, including arrest and detention.The number of absconders exceeds the current asylum backlog awaiting a preliminary decision from the Home Office. Government figures for March showed 48,758 asylum seekers were still awaiting preliminary decisions on their applications.The report comes ahead of new immigration legislation expected to be introduced next week. The proposed measures aim to make it harder for migrants to use human rights protections and modern slavery claims to delay or prevent deportation.A Home Office source told The Telegraph the previous government’s handling of the asylum system was “chaotic”, adding that poor data management and a growing asylum backlog had led to the current situation.Sources also said that funding for immigration enforcement will increase from £681 million in 2023-24 to £1.33 billion in 2028-29, while the number of enforcement officers is expected to increase from 4,500 to 7,300.Since July 2024, nearly 70,000 illegal immigrants and foreign criminals have been deported from the UK, including around 10,000 foreign national criminals. About 19,800 foreign criminals currently live in the community, awaiting deportation.The Home Office is also investing an extra £10m in new reporting systems, including digital self-service kiosks, while a further £3m is being invested in improving technology to track historical absconding cases.

Skyler Conville Update: Missing 13-year-old boy from Apache Junction found safe; man in custody

A 13-year-old girl missing since the afternoon of Friday, June 19, in Apache Junction has been found safe, police announced. one Turquoise Alert Posted on Tuesday evening, June 23rd, Arizona teenager Skyler Cornwellhe was last seen with a stranger.

The Department of Public Safety said Convair was last seen on the afternoon of Friday, June 19, in the Circle K parking lot at Meridian Drive and Superstition Boulevard. According to AZ Family , she got involved in a family fight and refused to get into the family’s car. She was later seen getting into an early 2000s white Chevrolet Impala four-door sedan.

Convair’s vehicle was last seen entering heading west on Superstition Avenue at about 1:07 p.m. Surveillance video showed the driver was an unrelated man believed to be in his 50s or 60s.

exist renewThe Apache Junction Police Department initially said, “The man depicted in the photo posted by our missing person alert has been located in Globe, Arizona and is in our custody.” In that post, police said Conwell remains missing and detectives are actively following leads to her whereabouts.

However, in their latest post, they say Convair has been found.

“The Apache Junction Police Department is pleased to report that 13-year-old Skylar Cornwell has been safely located and reunited with her family,” the Apache Junction Police Department said. “This investigation involved detectives, SWAT officers, patrol officers and our law enforcement partners who worked around the clock to follow leads, conduct interviews, and execute multiple search warrants in Apache Junction, Mesa, Universal and Miami. Their efforts ultimately led to the discovery of Skylar.”

“We would like to thank everyone who shared Turquoise Alerts, our missing persons posts, and submitted tips throughout the investigation. Turquoise Alerts, coupled with the overwhelming response from our community, generated valuable leads that played a critical role in helping investigators safely find Skylar,” the post continued.

It added, “While Skyler has been located safely, the investigation remains ongoing and has been transformed into an active criminal investigation. Detectives will continue to pursue additional leads and serve search warrants. To protect the integrity of the investigation, no additional information will be released at this time.”
