
Police found a trailer split open and pieces of flat cardboard scattered on the road.
Burlington, Washington – One Lane Interstate 5 southbound Burlington North remains closed after a semi-truck crashed into a ditch Tuesday morning, leaving cardboard packages scattered on the highway, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.
State troopers responded to the accident around 3:15 a.m., and when they arrived, they found the trailer had been torn apart and a large amount of flat cardboard had been scattered onto the roadway.
The right lane at milepost 238 near the Bow Mountain rest area remained blocked for several hours Tuesday morning as crews worked to remove trucks and clean up debris, officials said just before 8 a.m.
The towing crew removed the tractor and continued to clear the trailer.
Washington State Patrol Trooper Brad Tulloch said there were no reports of injuries and no other vehicles were involved in the crash.
