YouTuber Karl Jobst has taken legal action against gaming personality Billy Mitchell, accusing him of defamation. The lawsuit was filed in a U.S. court on April 8, 2026. According to Jobst, Mitchell defamed him by making false statements about him, damaging his reputation, career and financial condition. Since Jobst runs a YouTube channel with more than 1 million subscribers, he said trust has been important to his career. In the lawsuit, Jobst also claimed that Mitchell used his name and image without permission and caused him emotional distress. He said Mitchell’s repeated comments caused people to lose trust in him. As a result, Jobst believes his audience and revenue have been severely affected by these accusations.
Litigation focuses on defamation claim and reputational damage
The main issue in the case is Mitchell’s comments. According to Jobst, Mitchell accused him of serious misconduct, including fraud and illegal conduct related to his 2025 bankruptcy. A statement said Jobst was involved “Serious illegal activity.” However, Jobst said these claims were untrue. He noted that a bankruptcy report found no wrongdoing in his case. The lawsuit also involves funds raised through a GoFundMe campaign. Mitchell allegedly said Jobst defrauded people and dishonestly took large amounts of money. Jobst denies this. He said the money was used to cover legal fees and all details had been made clear to donors. He also denied suggestions that he diverted funds to avoid repaying debt or misused early campaign funds.Jobst said Mitchell repeated the accusations multiple times in videos, livestreams and social media posts. The complaint alleges that Mitchell either knew the claims were false or did not care whether they were true. Jobst believes this is part of a long-term effort to tarnish his image.Ultimately, Jobst asked the court for money to cover his losses and the stress he faced. He also asked for additional damages as punishment. This isn’t the first time the two have feuded, with a lawsuit between them previously damaging Jobst’s interests.
