After the horrific car accident, several travelers took to the internet to learn about the circumstances of the accident LaGuardia Airportwhether running or not. The incident on the runway forced authorities to halt flight operations late at night.

Is LaGuardia Airport open or closed?

The incident triggered a ground stop order. After the order is issued, no aircraft will be allowed to take off or land until safety checks are completed. Officials diverted arriving flights to neighboring airports while emergency teams secured the runway.

The plane was a Jazz Aviation flight operated on behalf of Air Canada and had 72 passengers and four crew members on board, according to the airline. The flight departed from Montreal’s Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport, the main airport serving Montreal.

Images and videos from the scene showed severe damage to the front of the plane, with cables and debris dangling from the badly damaged cockpit. Nearby, an emergency vehicle rolled over.

Stairs used to evacuate passengers from the aircraft are located near the emergency exits of Bombardier CRJ aircraft. The collision caused the jet’s crumpled nose to tilt upward.
