Some users are X A small but important change to the application settings was noticed this week. According to multiple posts, the “Night Mode” option has disappeared from the app settings in the latest update and is no longer directly adjustable within the platform.

Night mode was originally launched by Twitter in 2016. The feature, commonly known as dark mode in many other apps, allows users to switch the interface to a darker theme. It’s designed to help reduce exposure to blue light when using the app, and many people also like the dark look it gives the platform.

Why X removed night mode option

Nikita Bier, X’s head of product, explained the change. He explained in a March 5 X post that the platform has updated the app so that it now respects the display settings of the user’s device, rather than providing separate controls within the app.

This means that if someone turns on dark mode in the phone’s system settings, the X app will automatically switch to dark or night mode as well. However, users can no longer control this functionality directly from within the X application.

“Turn on dark mode on your device and your X app will go into dark mode,” Bill wrote

“It is now controlled at the OS level, not the application level (which makes no sense and creates problems across the entire application),” he added in the post.

Bill also explained that several other popular social media platforms such as TikTok and Youtube Already follows the same system by synchronizing with the device’s display settings rather than providing its own controls.

How users react to the changes

The update prompted mixed reactions from users of the platform. Some people said they were unhappy about losing the option to control Night Mode directly within the app.

“This is an extremely stupid update, Twitter is a text based app and they will switch it back anyway,” one user wrote.

Another user commented: “Not a great design decision.”

To which Bill responded: “This same design decision is used on Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and the rest of the world.”

Some users also asked the platform to restore the feature. One comment read: “Some people don’t want dark mode for everything. In my opinion, it’s a per-application/task preference.”

However, the latest update means that dark or night mode on the X will now depend on the user’s device settings, rather than the controls of the app itself. This change removes a separate option that was already on the platform.

Tornadoes cause major damage in Michigan

One of the most powerful storms moved across southern Michigan on the afternoon of March 6, spawning at least one confirmed tornado. The storm moved through Cass, St. Joseph and Branch counties, causing damage about 50 miles between Edwardsburg, Three Rivers and Union City, according to the National Weather Service office in northern Indiana.

Storm trackers, trained observers, broadcast media and public video confirmed that at least one “large and extremely dangerous” tornado was reported near Three Rivers in St. Joseph County.

The heaviest damage occurred Friday night in Union City, Michigan, a town of about 1,700 people just west of Interstate 69, USA Today reported. Homes along the St. Joseph River were destroyed beyond recognition after a powerful tornado struck the area.

The tornado that affected Sanhe struck around 3:50 pm local time on March 6. Storm chasers and emergency managers said the tornado touched down several times before causing damage on the city’s southwest side just before 4 p.m.

Officials said several large structures, including homes and pole barns, were severely damaged or completely destroyed.

Emergency crews rushed to the damaged area, and officials asked residents to avoid affected locations so first responders could work safely.

“We’re getting a lot of damage reports, so we don’t have exact numbers to report,” said Maddy Johnson, a meteorologist with the Office of the Weather Service. “We do know that there were several homes damaged on the north side of Lake Union in Union City, Michigan.”

Noel was charged with falsifying records Aug. 9 and 10 at the Metropolitan Correctional Center. “On August 10, 2019, NOEL and THOMAS repeatedly failed to complete the mandated count of inmates under their care in MCC’s Special Housing Unit (“SHU”). Instead, for the majority of their shift, NOEL and THOMAS sat at their desks, browsed the Internet, and moved around the common areas of the SHU. In order to conceal the fact that they failed to perform their duties, NOEL and THOMAS Inmates repeatedly signed false certifications that they were conducting multiple counts and failed to do so,” a Department of Justice press release about the incident stated.
Noel is approximately 38 years old and has been working as a correctional officer at MCC since approximately 2016. Both she and Thomas were regularly assigned to shifts at MCC’s Special Housing Unit (SHU), where Epstein was also located.
Tova Noel was on duty in the SHU from 4:00 pm on August 9, 2019, to 8:00 am on August 10, 2019. “In fact, NOEL, then NOEL and THOMAS, repeatedly failed to complete required counts in the SHU. NOEL and THOMAS sat at their desks browsing the Internet for most of the 12:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. shift, during which time Noel and Thomas were the only correctional officers assigned to the SHU,” DOJ documents state. It added that Noel “signed false certifications stating that he conducted inmate counts at 4:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m.”
Chase noted that there had been “suspicious activity” in Noel’s bank account starting in April 2018. According to records, there were 12 deposits in total, with the largest deposit reaching $5,000 on July 30, 2019. The documents reportedly showed seven cash deposits totaling $11,880.
Since then, Noel has become a medical office assistant at the Einstein Senior Care Center in Montefiore, where she was charged in connection with the alleged assault.

In 2021, Noel denied searching for Epstein on Google when questioned by the Justice Department. “I don’t remember doing this,” she claimed. She also claims everyone failed to do ward rounds and falsified records. She said in a sworn statement that she saw Epstein alive somewhere “around ten o’clock” and that “the sheets were never handed out.” She also denied any involvement in Epstein’s death.
