Capitol Police claimed that McInnis “violently resisted and fought our officers’ attempts to remove him from the room, putting everyone at risk.”
“Protests will not be allowed inside the Capitol,” it said. “There are many other places outside the Capitol where demonstrations are allowed.”
Elbrno, who attended the hearing with McGinnis, said McGinnis was arrested and taken to George Washington University Hospital. Police said McGinnis faces three counts of assaulting a police officer, three counts of resisting arrest and one count of crowding, impeding and impeding – meaning he allegedly blocked an entrance or passage – for interfering with the committee hearing.
