In the PSL match between Peshawar Zalmi and Karachi Kings, Babar needed just 13 runs to enter the 12,000-run club in T20 cricket and he reached the milestone in the fourth over of Zalmi’s innings. With this achievement, Babar became the second Pakistani batsman to cross the 12,000-run mark in T20S matches. The record for most T20 runs by a Pakistani player is still held by veteran batsman Shoaib Malik. Babar opened the innings for Peshawar Zalmi and remained unbeaten on 87 off 51 deliveries. He hit 10 fours and two sixes in his flowing batting and forged a 191-run leading partnership with Kusal Mendis for the second wicket, guiding Zalmi to an impressive total of 246/3 in the allotted 20 overs. Karachi Kings managed to score just 87 balls in their pursuit of a total of 247, thanks to brilliant bowling by Iftikhar Ahmed, Shoriful Islam and Sufiyan Muqeem, each of whom took three wickets each. In response, Karachi Kings crumbled under the pressure and were bowled out for just 87 runs, with Iftikhar Ahmed, Shoriful Islam and Sufiyan Muqeem taking three wickets each to seal a resounding victory for Zalmi.Earlier, Babar expressed frustration at the constant comparisons with Kohli during the post-match press conference between Peshawar Zalami and Hyderbad Kings.“Finish these things. Keep these things to yourself. End the comparisons and move on. That’s your misunderstanding, I’m not done playing yet,” he said.Babar responded with a record-breaking performance in the next game, silencing his critics.
