Jammu: Traffic on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) remained suspended for the third consecutive day despite fresh landslides continuing amid heavy rains in Ramban district, officials said.Due to recent rains, NH-44, the only all-weather road connecting Kashmir to the rest of the country, was blocked early on Monday due to multiple landslides. Despite a partial reopening Tuesday morning, two major landslides forced it to close again.The highway remains blocked and clearing operations are underway at Shalgarhi and Banihal as per a traffic advisory issued on X at 3 pm on Wednesday. “People are advised not to travel on NH-44 until the road is fully restored,” the statement said.Officials said more than 400 vehicles were stranded, while intermittent rains continued to hamper recovery efforts. The transportation department urges citizens to ignore rumors and check road conditions only through official social media accounts and contact numbers.
