In other revelations about The Devil Wears Prada 2, Entertainment Weekly reported in 2025 that Adrian Grenier, who played Hathaway’s romantic interest in the original film, would not be reprising his role in the sequel.

Entertainment Weekly also confirmed that Anna Wintour – the former editor-in-chief of Vogue and the inspiration for Streep’s character, ruthless fashion magazine chief Miranda Priestly – will also not appear in the upcoming film. Interestingly, a recent study by Ancestry.com revealed that the media executive and the three-time Oscar winner are actually distant relatives. “Well, that explains it all,” Streep told Entertainment Weekly exclusively in a written statement.

The sequel, which will premiere in theaters nearly 20 years after the original “The Devil Wears Prada,” follows Hathaway’s Andy Sachs as he reconnects with Priestly to resolve a series of controversies that dwindle readers’ interest in the fashion bible “Runway” that originally brought them together. The Devil Wears Prada was critically acclaimed, grossing $327 million at the global box office, and was nominated for two Oscars in 2006.
