Several social media posts reported heavy police activity near the Allen Cinemark Theater in Texas on Monday, raising concerns about a possible mass shooting.

A scanned post claimed, “Mass shooting at Allen Theater with multiple victims. As discussed in the dispatch call, emergency personnel responded to reports of a possible mass shooting at a theater off State Road 121 in Allen. Multiple patients were mentioned on the radio and police, fire and EMS units were dispatched to the scene.”
Fire Department Issues Update
However, authorities later clarified that no shooting had occurred.
The Allen Fire Department said the activity was part of a planned training exercise with the Allen Police Department. The exercise is scheduled to last until Wednesday.
“The Allen Fire Department and Allen Police Department will conduct joint training exercises every morning today through Wednesday at the Allen Cinema. You may notice emergency vehicles and personnel in the area, but there is no reason to panic. This is just training and we will continue to work together to keep our community safe,” the department said in a Facebook post.
