New Delhi: Kolkata Knight Riders finally opened their account in IPL 2026, picking up their first points after their match against Kings XI Punjab was called off for just 22 deliveries at the Eden Gardens on Monday. KKR, led by Ajinkya Rahane, scored one run apiece against Shreyas Iyer’s Kings XI Punjab as incessant rains and a soggy outfield forced the match to be called off. With this result, Kings XI Punjab topped the IPL 2026 points table. They are currently top of the table with five points from three games, with two wins and one resultless so far this season. For KKR, the abandoned game at least helped them get out of trouble after a tough start.Earlier, home team skipper Rahane won the toss and elected to bat, but his decision backfired early on. Australian pacer Xavier Bartlett batted in the second over, dismissing openers Finn Allen (6) and Cameron Green (4) in quick succession, leaving KKR tied at 16 each.Rahane (8 not out) and young wicketkeeper-batsman Angkrish Raghuvanshi (7 not out) tried to stabilize the innings, but rain interrupted the match after just 3.4 overs, with two runs of 25 runs. The umpires ultimately called off the game as conditions did not improve and the outfield remained wet.Kings XI Punjab will next face Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 11, while KKR will face Lucknow Supergiants on April 9.
