The actor said he received threats after speaking out against the abuse of H-1B visas by Indians in Texas.
British-American actor Matthew Marsden claims he received threats on his life after speaking out against the H-1B visa scam for Texas Indians. He also said he was not targeting any color or nationality and would be equally outraged if British people committed H-1B visa fraud. All of this stems from his April 4th X post in which he complained about Home Depot being filled with Indian kids and no one speaking English. “I just went to Home Depot and there was a kid-friendly morning there. Every family there was Indian and no one spoke English. This H1B visa fraud is destroying Texas and something needs to be done about it,” the viral post read. The post was slammed and seen as an example of bigotry as social media users pointed out that Indian kids speaking different languages is not an H-1B visa scam as these kids must also understand English and they are multilingual. “Every Indian child learns at least two languages and speaks Hindi in the presence of family. I can guarantee they speak English too. Why are you ignoring this? Because bigotry creates clicks. I guess,” one person wrote.“The beautiful self-goal of this paranoia is that most Indians are multilingual and speak English in addition to multiple Indian languages. And monolingual comic Madayan may only speak American English. So…who is more educated?” wrote activist Indu Viswanathan. A third user wrote: “Getting angry at brown kids at Home Depot who can’t speak English is a form of bigotry, not evidence of H-1B fraud.” Some users defended his observation, while many called him “engagement bait.” Matthew Marsden, a British-American citizen known for Coronation Street and Black Hawk Down, has spoken out on social media. On his YouTube channel, he posts multiple videos about how immigration is destroying Britain. He moved to the United States in 2003 and has been working in Hollywood ever since. He has lived in Texas for the past five years. He is a naturalized American citizen and holds dual British and American citizenship.
