Laura Loomer Praise for ‘power of independent journalism’ after US revokes permanent residency for woman and her daughter identified as relatives of slain Iranian commander Qassem Soleimani. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the decision was based on her alleged support for the Iranian government. They have all been arrested.
“Last night, the niece and grandniece of the late Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Maj. Gen. Qasem Soleimani were arrested by federal agents after Secretary of State Marco Rubio terminated their lawful permanent resident (LPR) status,” the U.S. State Department said. said in a press release.

Loomer took credit for her reporting, in which she said she “revealed the fact that Qasem Soleimani’s niece, Hamid Soleimani Afshar, had been living in the United States (Los Angeles, California) and posting pro-Iranian regime and pro-IRGC content on social media while living a lavish lifestyle.”
“Over the past few months, I have been quietly documenting all of Hamid Soleimani Afshar’s social media activity. I uploaded everything into a secure file and shared it with the Department of Homeland Security and the State Department, and now she has been arrested and will be deported from our country,” she added.
Who is Hamid Soleimani Afshar?
Immigration authorities detained Hamid Soleimani Afshar and her daughter. The U.S. State Department revealed that they are currently being detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). It described Hamid as “an outspoken supporter of Iran’s totalitarian terrorist regime.”
The State Department further wrote of Hamid, “While living in the United States, she promoted the Iranian regime’s propaganda, celebrated attacks on American soldiers and military installations in the Middle East, praised Iran’s new supreme leader, denounced the United States as the ‘Great Satan,’ and expressed unwavering support for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, a designated terrorist organization. Afshar Soleimani promoted the Iranian regime’s propaganda while enjoying a lavish lifestyle in Los Angeles. This is evidenced by frequent posts from her recently deleted Instagram account.”
Although Hamid and her daughter’s LPR status were terminated, Hamid’s husband was also barred from entering the United States.
“The Trump Administration will not allow our country to become home to foreigners who support anti-American terror regimes,” the State Department said.
